Features & Capabilities of the Hikvision 32 Channel Turbo HD CCTV Cameras DVR

Hikvision DS-7232HQHI-K2 is an excellent CCTV camera system for large properties like schools, warehouses, hospitals,  factories, and supermarkets.

Some of the best features in the network video recorder are:

Install Up to 40 CCTV Cameras

As the name, the Hikvision 32 channel DVR has up to thirty-two channels for analog video input. The analog channels are compatible with all types of CCTV cameras that use BNC cable, including TVI, AHD, CVI, and CVBS.

Secondly, the digital video recorder has additional IP channels for network cameras. The default channels for the IP cameras are two. But you can enable the “Enhanced IP mode” feature to increase the IP channels to eight.

Furthermore, the Hikvision CCTV DVR has the option to switch the analog channels for IP standards. Thus, allowing you connect up to forty network cameras.

Monitor in Crystal-Clear Images

Although a 1080p system, the Hikvision 32 channel DVR accepts up to 4MP CCTV cameras on the analog channels. 4MP has a native resolution of 2560 x 1440, nearly twice the size of the industry-standard 1080p quality.

However, the Hikvision DVR can only encode videos at 4MP lite, with a native resolution of 1280 x 1440. If you’d like images clearer than 4MP Lite, the recorder accpets IP network cameras of up to 6MP resolution.

Network  cameras usually send an already-processed, digital video to the DVR.  So, the footages of the IP cameras will be noticeably richer in details than analog cameras at any resolution.

Watch the CCTV Cameras on a Wide 4K TV

The Hikvision team has designed the 32 channel Turbo HD DVR with three video output options: HDMI, VGA, and CVBS. HDMI is our first recommendation, as you can connect with a 4K TV/ monitor at 3840 × 2160. Thus, making it possible to watch 6MP network cameras on a wide display with rich details.

Technically, you can also watch 1080p and 720p cameras on a wide 4K display. But the 4K display will upscale the image to fit, resulting in pictures slightly lower in details when compared on a 1080p monitor.

When using a 1080p monitor, you should also know HDMI produces clearer images than VGA. The drop in the image clarity worsens when using a long VGA cable. An analog signal (like with VGA or BNC cable) tends to grow weaker over long distances.

Furthermore, a HDMI cable carries both a digital video and audio signal. So, you won’t need to connect a separate audio cable, like when connecting the DVR to the monitor via VGA.

Record smooth Evidence, Rich in Details

The Hikvision 32-channel recorder offers a video frame rate of 4MP Lite and 3MP at 15fps. If you’d prefer to record with the CCTV in full HD (1080p), the maximum video frame rate is also @15fps.

Nonetheless, the Turbo HD DVR does produce smoother videos at 30fps in 1080p Lite and 720p. 1080p Lite is about half the resolution of true Full HD, albeit still clearer than 720p CCTV cameras.

Get Videos with Audio & Two-Way Talk

Hikvision DS-7232HQHI-K2 has built-in RCA input to connect a microphone to your camera. If using the CCTV in public areas, the recorder also has an RCA audio output for the speaker (to make announcements).

Moreover, you can initiate a two-way conversation with the surveillance system. But the feature will require the Hikvision mobile app, which means configuring your DVR with internet for remote viewing.

Free Local Storage for Over a Month

The Hikvision hybrid DVR has two built-in SATA hard drive interfaces, each with a maximum capacity of 10TB. If you need more storage space, the recorder has two USB ports: one at the front and another at the rear. You can use one of the USB ports to connect an external hard drive, while the other works the wired mouse.

High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)

The Hikvision CCTV cameras DVR supports all the video compression protocols: H.264/ H.264+/ H.265/ H.265 Pro/ H.265 Pro+.

H.265, H.265 Pro, and H.265 Pro+ codecs are also called HEVC (high-efficiency video coding), as they’re the most efficient. The “efficiency” part is that they can help cut the storage and bandwidth consumption by over 50% than when using H.264.
