Description

Pop rivet gun  is a tool used to install pop rivets, which are a type of fastener that creates a strong, permanent mechanical joint in materials, particularly when access to only one side of the workpiece is availableThe gun works by pulling on the rivet’s mandrel (a small rod inside the rivet) causing the rivet body to expand and clamp the materials together, then snapping off the mandrel. Its core pulling riveting for materials such as steel, AI with ø3.2mm, ø4.0mm, ø4.8mm, ø6.0mm and ø6.4mm

How it works:
  1. 1. Rivet Insertion:

A pop rivet is inserted into a pre-drilled hole through the materials to be joined.

  2. 2. Gun Engagement:

The pop rivet gun is placed onto the rivet, with the gun’s jaws gripping the mandrel.

  3. 3. Mandrel Pull:

The gun pulls the mandrel into the rivet body.

  4. 4. Expansion and Clamping:

As the mandrel is pulled, it expands the rivet body, causing it to press against the inside of the hole and clamp the materials tightly together.

  5. 5. Mandrel Breakage:

Once the rivet is fully expanded and the materials are securely joined, the mandrel snaps off at a pre-determined break point, leaving the rivet in place.

  6. 6. Finished Joint:

The remaining portion of the mandrel is usually discarded, and the rivet provides a strong, permanent, and often weather-resistant joint.

Key Features:
  • Blind Fastening:

Pop rivets can be installed from one side of the workpiece, making them ideal for applications where access is limited, such as automotive bodywork or HVAC installations.

  • Variety of Sizes and Materials:

Pop rivets are available in various sizes and materials (e.g., aluminum, steel) to suit different applications.

  • Manual and Pneumatic Options:

Pop rivet guns can be manual (hand-operated) or pneumatic (powered by compressed air), with pneumatic versions often used for high-volume or heavy-duty applications.

Applications:

Pop rivets and rivet guns are used in a wide range of industries and applications, including:

  • Automotive Manufacturing and Repair: For bodywork, panels, and other components.
  • Construction: For metal buildings, roofing, and ductwork.
  • Aerospace: For aircraft assembly and repair.
  • HVAC: For joining sheet metal in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • DIY Projects: For general repairs and construction projects around the home.
